Fall Best of the Midwest Registrations Open
06/27/2010 -- The Chicago and Indiana Magic are now announcing Fall Best of the Midwest tournament applications are being accepted for both boys and girls teams! Hosted at the Hallmark Convention and Sports Complex, this fall tournament has traditionally been touted as a premier youth tournament in the USA . Over 400 teams are expected to participate, coming from throughout the Midwest and Canada . Join us September 18-19, 2010.

Best of the Midwest Partners with Chicago Red Stars 04/05/2010 -- The Best of the Midwest Soccer tournament is proud to announce a partnership with the Chicago Red Stars of Women's Professional Soccer. The Red Stars will be on hand at Friday's Registration/Opening Ceremony and at the tournament site on Saturday. Everyone is welcome to stop by their booth for a chance to win a prize or to obtain an autograph from a Red Star. Additionally, the tournament committee has arranged for a special ticket offer for tournament teams/clubs that would like to attend the Red Stars Saturday game at 7pm during tournament weekend. Once your team registers, a Red Stars representative will be in contact with you to provide you complete details and reserve your tickets at that time if you wish to do so. Northwest Indiana Private Training Opportunity 03/29/2010 -- Cara Andjelich, former Indiana Magic player, lead Taylor University ( Upland , IN ) in goals as a freshman starter this past 2009 fall season. She will be heading to South Africa during the World Cup with her college team for missions outreach. When she returns home from South Africa she plans offer private individual and small group soccer training to players in Northwest Indiana . Hosted at the Hallmark Convention and Sports Complex, this spring tournament has traditionally been touted as a premier youth tournament in the USA. Over 500 teams are expected to participate, coming from throughout the Midwest and Canada . The facility is an easy drive from both Chicago airports with a variety of restaurants nearby in Merrillville, Indiana for dining after each tournament day. 10/19/2009 -- NISL indoor soccer was developed to appeal to sports fans around the world.The fast-paced, fiercely competitive game is played on artificial turf on a hockey-rink-sized field surrounded by dasher boards and Plexiglas with eight-foot high by 14-foot wide goals receded into the end boards. Creative dribbling, pinpoint passing, acrobatic goalkeeping and rugged defensive play are all skills demonstrated by NISL players. A typical NISL game features end-to-end-action resulting in approximately 60 shots and 11 goals per game. You've seen die-hard fans and supporters at a professional soccer match singing, drumming and waving flags. Chicago Magic Night is an event where our youth players can do just that in support of our professional indoor soccer team. Join us for this and all home games.

Indiana Magic Youth Night
09/24/2009 -- The Indiana Magic took all the youth teams to the Lake Central vs Highland game early in the high school season. The kids were able to watch their coaches Jereme Rainwater (LC) and Mirko Maric ( Highland ) battle it out on the playing field. The kids had the opportunity to be ball boys and play at halftime while their names were announced over the loud speaker for all the fans to hear. The club had over 50 kids present for the game which made an exciting atmosphere for the high school game. Later this season the kids made an appearance at Crown Point High School for the big game of CP vs Valparaiso . The kids were able to get autographs from the Crown Point team after the game. Once again the kids were ball boys and played at halftime showing off their awesome footskills to all of the Crown Point and Valparaiso fans.

Indiana Magic players contribute in National Championship
08/05/2009 -- The Chicago Magic U15 Girls team has been crowned national champions at US Club Soccer's 2009 National Cup VIII Finals, which was held July 31 through Aug. 3 at the Hampton Roads Soccer Complex in Virginia Beach , Va . The girls earned the national title with a come from behind 2-1 win vs. the Freestate Fury. Indiana Magic's Ashleigh Ellenwood scored the tying goal in the 37th minute, but it took Chicago Magic's Somer Druszkowski to bring home the victory with a penalty kick winner in the 97th minute (second overtime). Indiana Magic's Goalkeeper , Kelsey Shoemaker came up big with saves in the second half to keep the team in the game. "The girls did a great job," said Chicago Magic Coach Nathan Pitcock, "It was especially gratifying to see their hard work come together and present itself in their championship run!"
Challenge Cup Has Magic!
06/05/2009 -- The Indiana Magic U14 girls and both Indiana Magic U16 boys teams advanced to the semifinals to be played the weekend of June 13-14. The girls advanced as the Wildcard, by beating the Indiana Invaders 3-1 in their first game on Saturday and with a second win on Sunday in which they won 7-0 over the Columbus Express. Good luck to all THREE teams!
Best of the Midwest Indiana Magic Roundup
05/26/2009 -- The Best of the Midwest tournament came to a close this past weekend with plenty of memories for the Indiana Magic Soccer Club. It began with the U18 boys capturing the championship trophy with a penalty kick victory over the Chicago Wind. The U18 girls also won the title on the girl's side! The U18 girls scored 11 goals and only had 1 goal scored against them. The U15 girls came up just short in their bid to hold the championship trophy and earned second place. Indiana Magic Director of Soccer Nathan Pitcock said, "These teams have worked hard and showed what they can do. I see more coming from other Indiana Magic sides that dedicate themselves as these teams have."
A Season to Remember!
05/17/2009 -- The Indiana Magic 92/93 Boys, coached by Raul Barillas, finish first place in Indiana Soccer League U16 2nd Division. Undefeated . 5 wins, 0 losses, 3 ties. 19 goals scored, 3 against. Not to be outdone, the Indiana Magic 91/92 Boys, coached by Rick Tiemann, clinched first place in Indiana Soccer League U17 Premier Division with 1 match still to play. Undefeated. 5 wins, 0 losses, 0 ties. 20 goals scored, 7 against. Indiana Magic Director, Nathan Pitcock said, "Winning any competition is a tremendous accomplishment, but we are especially proud of these boys for the consistency and sustained excellence they have exhibited by capturing a league championship."

When Weather Doesn't Cooperate
04/30/2009 -- There is nothing like sun shinning on your face, a cool breeze and watching your kids enjoy themselves and grow from the competition. However, when the weather turns bad like rain, sleet and snow certain accommodations need to be met. As a staff we commit to providing a decision about that day's training by 2:00 PM CST. The decision will be sent out via e-mail to the team administrators for their dissemination. If you do not have access to e-mail, during that time period, we respectfully request that you contact your TA. Thank you for all that you do on behalf of your child.
National Champions !
02/18/2009 -- The Indiana Magic U17 Boys captured the Upper90.com National Indoor Championship, successfully defending the title they won as U15s. They went undefeated in the event held in St. Louis , with wins over Lou Fusz, Minnesota Thunder, and Indy Burn among others. "Having the opportunity to compete against this kind of quality competition was a tremendous benefit as we prepare for the upcoming spring season. Hopefully we can build on this success as we move outdoors," said Coach Rick Tiemann.

MLS Draft has Magic!
01/15/2009 -- The San Jose Earthquakes added a Chicago Magic alum to their team in the 2009 Major League Soccer SuperDraft. The Quakes picked midfielder Brad Ring in the second round (17th overall). Ring, 21, attended Indiana University , where he played 78 games, scored 14 goals and had 8 assists in his college career. He helped lead the team to NCAA Tournament berths in all four seasons. A 2004 NSCAA/adidas High School All-American and a three-time conference MVP, Ring led the Chicago Magic to a Super Y-League North American Championship in 2004.
Magic's Lichaj a Regular in Aston Villa Reserve Lineup
11/30/2008 -- Eric Lichaj got to Aston Villa when he inked a two-year deal plus options in July 2007. The U.S. U-20 international was snapped up during Villa's preseason tour of the U.S. that summer, even though he had a foot injury. He impressed the club and its scouts during his time with the Chicago Magic. "I've been liking it here,'' Lichaj said, "The only thing is that I don't get to see my family, which takes a little while to get used to. Other than that everything is going really well soccer-wise. I came in injured and wasn't too happy the first year, but so far from preseason until now I've been very happy with how I'm progressing.''
Local All-State Selections Are Magic!
11/25/2008 -- The 2008 Indiana Soccer Coaches Association All-State Selections have been released and o f the nine boys from the Northwest Indiana area selected four of them are current Chicago or Indiana Magic players. While five of the eight girls selected are also current Chicago or Indiana Magic players. Congratulations go out to 2008 boys soccer All-State performers Geoff Bowman (CMSC), Ryan Stokes (CMSC), Tony Halterman (IMSC), Torrey Brock, Anthony Huard (CMSC), Cole Galloway, Krste Ruiz, Mike Lipton, and Joey Higgins from Northwest Indiana . On the Girls All-State team, congratulations go out to Samantha Cook (IMSC), Sammy Vercellino (CMSC), Kate McCusker, Brooke Polus, Jessica Gates (IMSC), Leah Brousalis(IMSC), Keli Parks (IMSC), and Tara Ellis from Northwest Indiana .

Indiana Magic Girls Champions of KISS!!!
07/01/2008 -- The KISS Tournament prides itself on its reputation as being the elite tournament in Michigan and also as one of the best in the Midwest , so the Indiana Magic girls took on the challenge. The U17 Indiana Magic girls began tournament pool play with great passing, positioning and communication and used these skills to advance to the semi-finals. In the semi-finals they faced the Bangu Storm of Minnesota and won convincingly with a 6-2 score. The girls were mentally ready for the championship game against the GR Crew Juniors from Michigan . The girls had two key players out with injuries, but continued to play hard. With only two subs, the game was decided through speed, passing and everyone's consistency. Congrats to the girls on their 3-1 championship victory!

U18 Indiana Magic Boys Take Championship!!!
06/01/2008 -- The Indiana Magic Soccer Club continued their winning ways with a U18 Boys Challenge Cup Championship. The U18 boys played Fort Wayne Sports Club Blue in the final match. The boys showed their character after going down 1-0 by coming back in the second half with a goal by Indiana Magic's Joe Krilich. The two sides battled but remained deadlocked at the end of regulation and after the two overtime periods. The championship was to be decided in penalties. Scoring for the Indiana magic were: Tony Halterman, Andrew Goralczyk, Joe Krilich, and Drew Ficken. Standing in between the posts was Tony Halterman for the Indiana Magic. Tony came up big by saving the second penalty from Ft. Wayne . Congrats to the Coaches, parents and most importantly the players.
Indiana Magic Team Brings Home Indiana Challenge Cup Crown!!!
06/01/2008 -- The Indiana Magic Soccer Club participated in their first Indiana Challenge Cup and became champions in the U16 age group. The Indiana Magic U16 Boys Blue played Fort Wayne Sports Club Revolution in the championship game and brought home the crown with a 2-1 victory. Tony Ceja and Silvestre Lomeli scored the two Indiana Magic goals. Goalkeeper AJ Ratajec "stood on his head" by making some big saves to preserve the victory. Congrats to the Coaches, parents and most importantly the players.
